THE HAPPENINGS October 2024
In October, Port Macquarie and surrounding areas are bustling with events that cater to various interests. Starting with regular activities, the town offers daily experiences like seaplane adventures, helicopter tours, and visits to the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital. For those into nature, there are opportunities to visit the Billabong Zoo or take part in the Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail. The local arts and culture scene is also lively with regular art galleries, wine tastings, and heritage tours running throughout the month.
Special events in October range from family-friendly gatherings to exciting cultural celebrations. The month kicks off with school holiday activities such as the “Bumble Bites Workshops” and “Sea Acres Rainforest Boardwalk Tours.” The annual Oktoberfest at Tacking Point Tavern runs from October 7th to the 20th, featuring live music, a German menu, and a stein-holding challenge. Other notable events include the Port Macquarie Cup on October 11th and the theatrical production of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory from October 24th to 27th at St Columba Anglican School
October also sees a variety of music and entertainment events, including tribute shows, live bands, and family discos. The Glasshouse Theatre offers performances like Leaving Jackson: Johnny Cash + June Carter on October 18th and Julian Gargiulo’s piano performance on October 20th. Additionally, Halloween-themed events close the month, such as the “All Ages Family Friendly Sunset Halloween Cruise” on October 31st, and the “Halloween Family Disco” at Wauchope RSL on October 26th
