Profile
From the moment you come inside the picket fence and onto the bull-nosed verandah of Roto House, it feels as though you’ve stepped back in time. Passing inside the front door flanked by ruby lights, you pass into a grand hallway decorated with cast iron lamps hanging from the ceiling. Built by surveyor John Flynn in 1891, this eleven-room weatherboard house of local red mahogany was occupied by his family right up until 1979. Its still lovingly maintained by the National Parks and Wildlife Service to this day. Volunteers are available to answer your questions and show booked tour groups around.
Weddings can also be booked here, and the house and gardens make a perfect backdrop to any celebration. There’s plenty of space to set up a marquee your photos will be beautiful. If you’re just here for the afternoon, make time for the kids to run around outside and don’t miss another highlight of the park: the Koala Hospital.
